Today, I want to share a personal story about my career path and hopefully encourage someone who is standing at the edge of a big life decision.

January is National Radon Action Month, and for homeowners and buyers in the Reno–Sparks–Truckee Meadows area, radon is something worth paying attention to.

Because of our local geology and proximity to the mountains, radon is more common in Northern Nevada than many people expect. It’s odorless, tasteless, and invisible—but it’s also the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States, right behind smoking. If you’re buying or selling a home, radon testing is something we often recommend as part of the inspection process. It’s simple, affordable, and can provide valuable peace of mind.

Happy New Year and welcome to 2026! As we kick off the new year, it’s the perfect time to look back at how the Reno–Sparks and Washoe County real estate market finished 2025. And it is a perfect time to understand what homeowners and buyers should be thinking about as we head into the months ahead.

This notice will arrive in the mail and can easily get lost in the holiday hustle of holiday cards and packages.
