Step Up to the Plate: It's Time to Sign Up for Washoe Little League’s Spring Season!
It might be December but it’s already time to start dreaming of spring and sign up for Washoe Little League. Just around the corner is that magical time when kids grab their gloves, lace up their cleats, and head to the diamond for a season of fun, teamwork, and maybe even some home runs! My family has been part of Washoe Little League for eight years and it's been a wonderful experience. Signing up for Washoe Little League’s Spring Season is your little slugger's first step in an unforgettable adventure. Here’s how to make the process as smooth (and fun) as a perfect pitch.
Why Choose Washoe Little League?
Washoe Little League is more than just baseball; it’s about building community, fostering teamwork, and giving kids a chance to shine on and off the field. Whether your child is a seasoned shortstop or just learning to swing a bat, they’ll find a welcoming environment filled with coaches who care, teammates who cheer, and parents who cheer even louder.
What You’ll Need to Register
Before heading to the registration page https://tshq.bluesombrero.com/Default.aspx?tabid=1388563 , here are some items you need to have ready:
- Proof of residency or school enrollment: Washoe Little League serves specific boundaries*, so be sure to check here. Documents like your driver’s license, school records, vehicle records, employment records, insurance documents, mortgage forms, utility bills, and/or voter registration can be used.
- Birth certificate: To confirm your slugger’s eligibility.
- A love of the game: Okay, this one’s more metaphorical, but it’s essential for a season of fun!
*Pro tip: Be sure to register early! Little League International has implemented new rules this year allowing certain age children (mainly ages 4-7) and their siblings (ages 7+) to play for leagues they are not zoned for. This is referred to as Regulation 2. This new regulation will allow kids who are not zoned for Washoe Little League to play for Washoe Little League if they meet the requirements. Check out the details online.
This rule change means that spots may fill faster than in the past! So be sure to sign up soon.
The Sign-Up Process
Gone are the days of scribbling on paper forms at the local park. Washoe Little League makes it easy to register online:
- Visit the League’s Website: A few clicks will take you to the registration portal.
- Fill Out the Online Forms: Add your child’s details, jersey size, and emergency contact info.
- Pay the Fee: Don’t worry; it’s a small price for a season full of smiles and sunshine.

What Happens Next?
Once you’ve registered, the countdown to the season begins! Here’s what you can expect:
- Player Evaluations: A fun way for coaches to get to know your child’s skills and place them on a team where they’ll thrive. More details will be provided as the season approaches. Player evaluations are for the upper divisions only (AAA and above).
- Team Assignments: Watch your email for team details, practice schedules, and meet-your-coach events.
- Gear Up: Time to dust off that glove and hit the local sporting goods store for any missing essentials.
Tips for a Successful Season
- Get Involved: From cheering in the stands to volunteering as a coach, there are plenty of ways to support your child’s team. Speaking from experience, some of my fondest memories are coaching my two sons in Washoe Little League.
- Snack Smarts: Stock up on sunflower seeds and Gatorade—ballpark essentials.
- Stay Positive: Whether it’s a strikeout or a grand slam, encourage your child to have fun and give their best effort.
So what are you waiting for? It has been a rewarding experience to be a part of Washoe Little League and work with so many kids and their families over the past eight years. We have met and made so many friends at the park that we can't go anywhere in Reno without knowing a kid or a parent. It's time to spring into action and sign up for Washoe Little League today. The bases are waiting, the outfield is calling, and your little player’s big league dreams are ready to take flight. Batter up!
