Reviewing your Alta Statements from closing costs from 2021

It is that time of year to start getting your taxes in order for the tax filing deadline on Monday, April 18th, 2022. If you bought or sold real estate in 2021, it is important that you locate and take a look at the Alta Statement (aka Closing Statement) that your title company prepared for you. If you were one of our clients, we have already contacted you and sent you a copy. If you weren't our client last year, you will need to track down your closing package from the title company for your transaction.

It is critical that you take your Alta Statement and forward a copy to your accountant or CPA. This document summarizes all of the fees that you incurred during your real estate transaction. Your accountant or CPA will assist you to determine what closing costs that you can write-off
