Great Reno Balloon Race
- When: September 5–7
- Where: Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, Reno
The country’s largest FREE hot-air balloon event, loved for its dawn lift-offs, glowing “Glow Show,” and spectacular visuals. A vibrant, family-friendly tradition with dozens of balloons and thousands of spectators. The event started in 1982 with 20 balloons, and today, The Great Reno Balloon Race has taken flight with up to 100 balloons each year.
Reno Greek Festival
- When: September 5–6
- Where: St. Anthony Greek Orthodox Church, Reno
Celebrate Greek culture with delicious food, desserts, lively music, and traditional dancing. Great for families and food lovers. The Reno Greek Festival takes place at Saint Anthony Greek Orthodox Christian Church. Enjoy your favorite Greek dishes and desserts, and enjoy live Greek music and dancing. International Camel & Ostrich Races
- When: September 6–7
- Where: Virginia City
A wildly unique spectacle featuring camels, ostriches, and even zebras racing with riders—fun, quirky, and unforgettable. The 66th International Camel & Ostrich Races will take place in historic Virginia City and is a family-friendly, must-see event. There will be four shows across three days. Reno Tahoe International Art Show
- When: September 11–14
- Where: Reno–Sparks Convention Center
The fastest-growing fine art event in the U.S.: sculptures, furniture, film, music, and galleries from both local and international artists. The RTIA Show has doubled in size, audience, and art sold every year. The event will feature national and international galleries, independent artists, short film programming from around the world, and one of the nation’s largest presentations of sculpture, including the Post Playa Art, which showcases artworks created for Burning Man. “The Princess Bride” in Concert with Reno Phil
- When: September 23–24
- Where: Grand Sierra Resort’s Grand Theatre, Reno
Watch the classic movie "The Princess Bride" as the Reno Philharmonic performs the original score live at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno. The Reno Phil will perform composer Mark Knopfler’s unforgettable score in special, new arrangements for symphony orchestra. There are two opportunities to experience the show, September 23 and September 24. Tickets are available for purchase online. This will be a magical and immersive experience!
Dragon Lights Reno
- When: September 26–November 30
- Where: Wilbur D. May Arboretum, Rancho San Rafael Park, Reno
An illuminated nighttime experience with themed lantern zones—Asian culture, marine scenes, and more. Dragon Lights Reno returns to the Wilbur D. May Arboretum and Botanical Gardens in Rancho San Rafael Park with an all-new theme: Odyssey of Waves & Woods. This year’s show features three captivating zones and is great for all ages.
