Aggie Muster is more than a tradition—it is the living heartbeat of the Aggie Spirit, echoing across generations and continents. As a proud graduate of the MAYS MBA program in 2007, the annual Muster on April 21 holds profound meaning for me, both as a former student and as a lifelong member of the Aggie family.
The roots of Muster stretch back to the late 19th century, evolving from Texas Independence Day celebrations to a solemn remembrance, especially during times of war. The legendary 1942 Muster on Corregidor Island, held by Aggies under siege during World War II, cemented the tradition’s significance and inspired Aggies everywhere to gather in remembrance and solidarity. This legacy of resilience, loyalty, and unity is the foundation upon which Muster stands today.
As an Aggie MBA graduate, Muster is a powerful annual reminder of the values that shaped my time at Texas A&M and continue to guide me in my personal and professional life. The ceremony is not just about honoring the departed—it’s about reaffirming the bonds of friendship, mentorship, and support that define the Aggie experience. Every year, as I hear the names called and respond “Here” in spirit, I am reminded of the responsibility we share to support one another, uphold our traditions, and serve our communities.
Muster also serves as a bridge between past, present, and future Aggies. It brings alumni back to campus, fosters mentorship, and inspires current students to embrace the Aggie core values of leadership, service, and camaraderie. Participating in Muster, whether in person or from afar, reinforces my sense of belonging to something greater than myself—a global family bound by shared experience and unwavering loyalty.
Today, Muster ceremonies take place in over 300 locations worldwide, from major cities to remote outposts, and even on cruise ships. The diversity of these gatherings—from casual barbecues to formal ceremonies—reflects the unique personalities of Aggie communities, yet all share the same spirit of remembrance and unity. For me, this global reach is a testament to the enduring power of the Aggie network, which continues to support, uplift, and connect us long after graduation.
Muster is not just a day of remembrance—it is a celebration of life, legacy, and the unbreakable bonds of the Aggie family. It reminds us that while our time at Texas A&M may have ended, our commitment to each other and to the values we learned endures. As we answer “Here” each April 21, we honor those who came before us and inspire those who will follow, ensuring that the Aggie Spirit remains vibrant and strong for generations to come.
