The Marce Herz Middle School PTA hosted its sixth annual Color Rush on Friday, October 23, 2026, giving students an opportunity to get outside, have fun with their classmates, and support their school community. It's a fun event for students and staff, plus any family volunteers who can help make the day a success. At this year's event, I was lucky enough to volunteer my drone-pilot services to capture all the excitement from above. As the Marce Herz PTA's signature fundraiser, the event helps fund school programs, student activities, staff appreciation, and other needs that support the educational experience. This year's fundraising goal was **$50,000**, with donations helping fund new copy machines, volleyball and other sports equipment, student programs, staff appreciation, school needs, and Color Rush supplies. Every contribution helps the PTA continue supporting the school and creating opportunities for students and staff. ## How Fundraising Makes a Difference You can see the impact of past Color Rush fundraisers throughout the school. With community support, the PTA has helped fund a variety of student programs and school improvements, including: - Reading Week T-shirts and student reward days - Robotics competition support - Ice skating opportunities at Reno Ice - Music and choir accompanist support - Two Gaga Ball courts - A shade structure for the bike racks - School spirit wear - Staff appreciation events and meals These projects and programs help make middle school more engaging for students while recognizing the teachers and staff who work hard to support them. ## A Community Effort Events like the Color Rush don't happen without dedicated volunteers. From setting up the event to helping during the activities and cleaning up afterward, families and community members play an important role in making the day possible. The Color Rush is a great example of what can happen when a school community comes together around a shared goal. Students enjoy a memorable experience, the PTA raises funds for important school needs, and volunteers help create an event students and staff look forward to. As a certified FAA Part 107 drone pilot, I am passionate about utilizing my drone services.
