I can tell you from personal experience that the snow is great right now.  My family loves to ski, and we head up to the slopes whenever we can during the winter months. Luckily, some of our favorite ski resorts are just a short drive from home.  In this blog, I’m highlighting some of my family’s favorite ski resorts around Lake Tahoe, all just a short drive from the Truckee Meadows. ##### [Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe](https://skirose.com/ ) One of the closest ski resorts to South Reno is Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe.  Known for its stunning views and excellent snow conditions, Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe's base elevation sits at 8,260 ft. It is home to 1,200 acres of terrain with a wide range of options for all skill levels, including the Chutes, a popular destination for advanced skiers. Mt. Rose is a beloved destination for both locals and visitors. New this year at Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe is Wildslide Snow Tubing. This all-new snow tubing park offers up to 20 snow tubing lanes. Wildslide is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and you can [reserve your tickets online](https://wildslidetahoe.com/pricing/).  #### [Diamond Peak Ski Resort](https://www.diamondpeak.com/ ) Celebrating its 60th year,  Diamond Peak Ski Resort is a short drive from South Reno. Located in Incline Village, this resort offers breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe and some of the area’s most affordable lift tickets and season pass prices. It's an excellent option for those seeking a more laid-back ski experience in a picturesque setting. #### [Northstar California Resort ](https://www.northstarcalifornia.com/ ) About an hour's drive from Reno is Northstar California Resort. This winter wonderland is known for its charming village, upscale amenities, and exceptional grooming. Whether you're into skiing,  snowboarding, or simply enjoying the après-ski scene, Northstar has something for everyone. The Village at Northstar offers food and shopping options as well as lodging accommodations. Additional winter activities include snowshoeing, ice skating, cross-country skiing, and more. #### [Palisades Tahoe](https://www.palisadestahoe.com/) Palisades Tahoe (formerly known as Squaw Valley), together with its neighboring resort, Alpine Meadows, offers a vast and diverse ski experience. Palisades Tahoe was the host of the 1960 Winter Olympics and is home to stunning alpine scenery and a challenging range of terrain. The area is a favorite among extreme athletes and outdoor enthusiasts. Palisades Tahoe lift tickets are valid at both Palisades and Alpine, and give skiers and snowboarders access to over 6,000 skiable acres. The picturesque Village at Palisades offers lodging as well as coffee shops, wine bars, and shopping, including outdoor gear outfitters. #### [Heavenly Mountain Resort](https://www.skiheavenly.com/) Still within a reasonable drive from Reno is Heavenly Mountain Resort.
